Work continues in the galaxy far, far away- with today’s update happy to announce the smaller sectors represented by the dashed lines have been finished. In addition, I’ve also managed to add a considerable number of canon planets to the map.
One of the questions that has been nagging me is how to properly display a message on this map. Or to put it more to the point, should I call out certain planets- and if so which ones? This of course begs a larger question, should I split this map into multiple maps? One could imagine a map that illustrates the planets and locations from the core films, Episodes 1-9. Or likewise a map that illustrates the locations featured in Star Wars Rebels or Clone Wars.
It’s possible there might be a mixture of the two, but that decision can be pushed off at least for a short while, while I finish up the actual map itself. The main problem with calling out any of these planets is it doesn’t really tell a story, nor is the map functional per-say, which is usually a standard I try to hold all my maps to.
Once the locations have been finished I make those decisions, because honestly there’s a lot more than simple location callouts possible. For instance I could make a wild in-universe vacation guide or a tactical map for the Rebellion. Lots of possibilities!
