It’s been a while since I’ve provided a proper update. But yes I am alive and well! Here we have a recently developed island map of Jurassic World. This map was really interesting to create, in both good and bad ways.

For one, I’m a huge fan of consistency and organization. It’s likely why I enjoy making these nerdy maps to begin with, everything has a home- you just have to find it! But that’s where the struggle began with the Jurassic World island. As some of you may know, I’ve produced a Jurassic Park map previously, without many issues. The island map works alongside both the film and the novel. You can even track the progress of the characters in the film on the map itself if you chose to. It’s fairly accurate and consistent with most other marketing material or references. I’m very proud of it!

With the Jurassic World map however, there was an automatic problem that started within the first minutes of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Where as the large aquatic paddock was first spotted centrally located on the island in the first Jurassic World film, now it was placed along the coast in the sequel. That presented a problem. But it was the first of many that I ran into, as I realized that the consistency of the map was not even consistent with official marketing material, that presented things such as the monorails as being completely different depending on the material, the shape of the island, the paddocks themselves, etc. It was a mess!

Truthfully, it was still fun to make this map, and I’m happy to see it finished. Even if it’s not completely accurate- and no map possibly can be. It’s still nice to see this reach it’s proper conclusion. You can of course go ahead and purchase this map from my etsy account, the few dollars I charge for a digital print makes for a few coffee runs throughout the week!
